Committee – Competition & Team Events

Overview

The role of the Competition & Team Events representative on the Committee is to manage the club's participation in all the major, externally organised races (i.e. organised by other clubs or organisations).

Organise and manage team captains and/or managers for:

Southern and National Road Relays
Southern Athletics League
Rosenheim League
Southern Vets T&F League
Metropolitan XC League
Sunday XC League
Cross-Country Championships
Results, rankings and other statistics
Club Road and Triathlon Championships
Green Belt Relay
Welsh Castles Relay
National Club Triathlon Relays
Round Norfolk Relay
Summer League
Assembly League
London Triathlon League

General duties and responsibilities

The role includes, but is not limited to, track & field leagues; cross-country leagues; road racing relays such as Green Belt and Welsh Castles; selected triathlons and duathlons; appropriate regional and national competitions in each discipline; and selected races chosen for the Serpentine Club Championships (road, track and triathlon).

Note that is not the job of the Competition & Team Events Committee member to organise every aspect of participation in all of these events, but more to facilitate participation by encouraging individuals or groups, in the form of sub-committees, to take on the management of each event or league.

The Competition & Team Events Committee member ensures that the club's participation in external events follows all risk, health and safety guidelines stipulated by the organisers of each event and that members participating or assisting observe Serpentine's health and safety policies.
