Tuesdays at Maida Vale 4th January 2022

This Tuesday’s session is a Balke test.

This is a fitness test in the form of a classic Time Trial where you complete as much distance as possible in exactly 15 minutes. After recording your performances I'll crunch the data and send you a pdf with your training paces, race predictions and age graded score (age grade is optional and requires me to know your age). We meet at 7pm on the Sprint lanes.

We're now commencing a 17 week phase until the end of April where we train 5k pace every fortnight and 10k pace or very occasionally 3k pace on the weeks between. The objectives are: 

  • compatibility with longer endurance training plans 
  • sync with the cross country season 
  • support Feb/March half season (and 5k/10ks)
  • support April marathons.

There will also be a Mile TT on the 26th April to mark the end of this 17 week phase. The website will be updated soon to show which dates align with the 5k/10k structure.

This is an Event Specific session according to England Athletics. All speeds of runner are welcome though you will need enough endurance to complete the session. If +30 mile week or +3 runs a week sounds like a big number you may benefit from other Serpie sessions on offer. Please contact me with any questions!
