Jekyll and Hyde Park Hallowe'en Duathlon
Central London's duathlon - Sunday 30th October 2011
Entries for the 2011 race are now closed.
The rain held off, and it turned out to be a cool and dry autumn morning for what was the finale event of the 2011 Triathlon London League. In the spirit of the Hallowe'en theme, some duathletes negotiated the course in fancy dress. Among these were a skeleton and a witch, and a carved pumpkin was awarded to a ‘centurion' for the best costume.
Over the ‘run, bike, run' course competitors ran one 4.2k lap of the Serpentine Lake, biked 20.8km over eight laps of South Carriage Drive, then ran another 7.6km in two laps of the lake to complete the course.
In a high standard and closely fought race, first place was taken by Richard Phillips of Serpentine Running Club in 1:13:01. He was followed by Nick Calderon of Tri Anglia in 1:13:22 and Nick Shasha of Torq Fitness in 1:13:42. In the women's race, Serpentine also took first place, with Becky Glover crossing the line in 1:22:30. Ruth Clifton of London Dynamo was second in 1:23:03, and Alexie Shaw of Dulwich Runners third in1:23:57. See below for full results.
In the men's team race, Serpentine took first place, followed by Clapham Chasers and Optima. Wimbledon Windmilers were the first placed women's team, followed by Clapham Chasers and Ful-On-Tri.
Many thanks to all helpers who gave their time and made the event a success!

Important note to Serpentine members
This race is your chance to give something back to your club and to London's multisporters, so our members are not allowed to enter the race. We really want you to volunteer to help (all volunteers will receive a race memento as a thank you), except in the following circumstances:
- You are one of our faster multisporters. This is a London League race and we really want to encourage you to turn out for your club. Men, women and 40+ all count to the points total. How fast is fast? Men should be capable of a 2:15 olympic distance triathlon, women and vets 2:20.
- You already contribute a lot to the club with a proven track record of volunteering
In each case you must apply to the race director before registering via EntryCentral.
