It was the first time it was being run at Dorney Lake. The wind was TERRIBLE!!!!!!!! and was quite cold, but good flat open course.

Dorney (Datchet) Dash 10k (08 May 2010)

Congratulations to Hendrik Zietsman who won the V40-49 mens race as well as being 4th overall.

The race is two laps of Dorney Lake which part of The Eton College Rowing Centre. It is advertised as flat and smooth and I would say that is a fair description.

Very well organised, plenty of toilets, chip (matt to finish) timing, friendly marshalls and a good atmosphere. Definately a PB course. I am told that on a windy day it is very exposed but that wasn't a problem today. Also from where I was in the field (slightly sub 40 minutes) congestion wasn't an issue.

The race cost £13 to enter and for that you got a Mars Bar, 500 ml orange Powerade , 500ml bottle of mineral water, packet of Quavers (cheese flavour), a double lollie, packet of fizzers, a Mr Chew, two unspecified small sweets (not tested), a Nature Valley Chewy Trail mix bar,a Sheraton Hotel Dental care set and a (particularly nice) medal.

Highly recommended.
