Report

Our 22-strong (well, I think it was 22, I kept losing count) trip to Wales was pretty successful: we bagged the men's 1st team prize - Darren McNeely, Alan Hall and Mark Braley. Darren also gave a few people a good run for their money by coming 2nd overall - I hope we can tempt him back next time to take 1st place. Alan and Mark came 10th and 11th overall, Alan taking the V35 trophy too! Helen Usborne was our first female Serpie home. (Only around 20% female entrants, so we just need a couple more fast ladies to take some additional prizes in this race).

However, it was the taking part that counted - a really exhilarating run and a friendly atmosphere. A free pint token in the goody bag and unisex showers in the race HQ contributed to this.

Zimmer frames all round on Monday (and for some, on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday...) as the descents were pretty hard on the quads, perhaps more so than appreciated beforehand. There were a couple of stiff shoulders, arms and upper backs as well, from kayaking to Hay-on-Wye on Saturday afternoon. The boys watching the football in the pub had the right idea. All in all a great trip which I will happily organise again next year, so please sign up if you are interested. Chepstow Harriers has the race organisation down to a T. The results were on the website the following evening as were lots of (free) photos too.
