New Year's Day 10k – Please help the club stage the event!

As you are probably aware, the New Year's Day 10k is returning on 1 January 2024 for its 32nd edition. We would like to have about 70-80 volunteers to help us on the day. Like the 2023 race, we are also operating a ballot for a small number of Serpentine members to run the race as well.

Volunteering - Sign-up to volunteer here!

This is a race that club members do not enter the race through general entry, instead we host the event for the London running community.  It is great to see we have already had about 20 members sign up to volunteer. The race is only possible with the help of Serpie volunteers that register runners, marshal the course, organise bag drop, provide water, give out medals and generally enjoy the festive atmosphere in Hyde Park. We currently need another 50-60 volunteers. If you are in London on New Year's Day, please help us make the NYD10k a great success by signing up to volunteer here

You’ll be pleased to know that just like previous years, after the event we will meet at the Mitre pub near Lancaster Gate to gather all Serpies for a drink and some food.

If you have any questions or preference as to your role, do not hesitate to contact us

Running - Enter the ballot!

Whilst before 2023 Serpentine members were not allowed to run the race, in the 2023 race we opened a ballot to give some members the chance to enjoy this wonderful event from the runner's perspective, and we will do the same for the 2024 race. The number of places available to run will be directly proportional to the number of members that sign up to volunteer, so that we have enough volunteers.

If you would like to run the NYD10k, you may enter the ballot on the same link. Please note that you can both enter the ballot and sign up to volunteer in case you are not selected to run.

Places are likely to be allocated in early December. Lucky recipients of these places will be contacted by the race organiser.

Help us spread the word!

Please help us spread the word to all your non-Serpie friends and family to run in the event more memorable! Simply direct your friends to the sign up page at Active Training World

It is worth noting that just like the 2023 race, we will have a non-binary category, as well as male and female. We are proud to be an inclusive club and we are glad to make sure running is for everyone!

Happy Running,
