Club Championship 2022 – Summer Grand Prix Races in July
Hello Serpies – This year’s Grand Prix is almost upon us. As usual, all the races will be in July. This is a series of races with trophies for the male, female and age-graded winners.
The races
The races are as follows:
1 mile – Monday 4th July 2022, Battersea Park Track (first race at 19:30)
3k – Monday 11th July 2022, Battersea Park Track (first race at 19:30)
1k – Saturday 16th July 2022, Hyde Park Rotten Row (first race at 09:00)
5k – Tuesday 26th July 2022, Battersea Park (start time 19:30) - NOTE NEW DATE
The 3k championship race (the fastest heat) in July 2021
All members are welcome to join – the more the merrier. For the 1 mile, 3k, and 1k races, runners will be divided into several heats and grouped with those running at a similar pace. Therefore, these races are not just for the fast runners, and everyone will have someone to run with and can race each other!
To enter
You don’t need to enter in advance, and the races are free to enter. All you need to do is to come about half an hour before the race starts – remember to wear your Serpie top. However, please fill in this form so we have an expectation of how many are coming, and this will make race admin easier (including distributing race numbers and grouping different heats).
Can I volunteer?
Yes, we need volunteers to make these races to happen. The following volunteers are required:
- 1 mile and 3k – 2 or 3 track judges (to record finisher order), and 4 or 5 timekeepers
- 1k – 2 or 3 judges (to record finishers), 3 or 4 volunteers to marshal and mind bags
- 5k – 2 or 3 judges (to record finishers), 7 or 8 volunteers to marshal and mind bags
