TCS London Marathon 2022 – Serpentine RC Club Place

Hello Serpies – Following the recent application process for our London Marathon Club Place, I am glad to announce who the worthy winner is!

As previously noted, TCS London Marathon can only give us one guaranteed place for 2022. This is due to lots of places reserved for club runners being rolled over from 2020 and 2021 for many UK running clubs, in turn limiting the number of places we have. We set out the rules back in March, aiming to reward a member who has played an active part in making this such a great club in the past year. Since then, four members have applied for this place, but there can only be one winner.

Congratulations to Victoria Crawford who came out on top and will be our representative in October. She has been one of our Cross Country and Road Relay co-captains in recent years. When the Southern Road Relay was cancelled in September 2021, she organised the ‘Not the Southern Relay’ event in Primrose Hill, with the team who were due to take part in the relay coming together for some fast running. She raced in all of the Summer Grand Prix Club Championship races in 2021. In May 2022, she also ran two very hard stages in this year’s Green Belt Relay! Outside of running races, she also led an exercise with the committee to figure out how to improve our strategy in recruiting volunteers. We wish Vic all the best in her training leading up to the Marathon!

Commiserations to those who have missed it this time. But the good news is as London Marathon 2023 will come back to the pre-pandemic slot of late April, it will not be long when members can apply again. Also we are hoping to have more places to give out next time, with the club place situation hopefully coming back to normal. Please look out for information later this year regarding how to apply for the 2023 club places.
