Cross Country Season 2021-22 – First Races in October

Just a quick reminder of the first cross country races of the season. Serpentine as a club takes part in two different leagues and many other championship races. Whether you are a championship-racer hoping to run fast times, or you’re a first-timer just wishing to get round, everyone is welcome and there’s a race for everybody.

October Races

The races in October are:

  • Met League (Race 1): Saturday 16th October (junior am, senior pm) – Claybury Park. Distance: 8km. In order to help our race admin, we would like to enter as many runners into the system as possible, so please let us know you’re coming by using this form.  
  • Sunday League (Race 1): Sunday 17th October (11am) – Cheshunt Park. Distance: Approx 8km. Although prior entry is not required and you can turn up on the day, please let us know you’re coming by also using this form.
  • Southern Cross Country Relay ChampionshipSaturday 23rd October - Linford Christie Stadium, Wormwood Scrubs, W12. Distance: 3km (each female runner), 5k (each male runner). You need to enter in advance to take part - please email Sophie Flanagan on or before Friday 8th October. (Note: the Serpentine RC 10k Championship takes place that morning at Battersea Park, but hopefully fine for some of you to do a shorter distance race in the afternoon.)
  • North London Cross Country Championship: Saturday 30th October – Uxbridge. You need to enter the race in advance. Please sign up using this form – registration deadline is Saturday 16th October. Any queries - please email Sophie Flanagan.

 

England Athletics Registration

Please note that for the Met League and the Championship races, you are required to be registered with England Athletics. Please check Serpiebase to see if you have bought or renewed your licence for 2021-22. 

 

Can’t run this month, but want to run in November onwards?

The remainder of the Metropolitan League races are: 

  • Saturday 13th November 2021 – Welwyn Garden City (Hosted by Herts Phoenix)
  • Saturday 4th December 2021 – Uxbridge (Hosted by Hillingdon)
  • Saturday 15th January 2022 – Wormwood Scrubs (Hosted by Thames Valley Harriers)
  • Saturday 19th February 2022 – Trent Park (Hosted by Barnet & District) 

Generally all races start at the following times: from 12:30 onwards there are different junior races; senior women at around 13:30 and senior men an hour later at 14:30. Any queries – please contact Darren Over who will manage our entries.

 

You can also run these Sunday League races: 

  • Sunday 12th December 2021 - Trent Park
  • Sunday 19th December 2021 – Stevenage
  • Sunday 16th January 2022 – Watford
  • Sunday 13th February 2022 – Royston 

Sunday League races will be held in the morning. Please contact Alex Malzer for more information.

 

Finally there will be these Championship races:

  • Saturday 20th November 2021 - London Cross Country Championships (Location: Parliament Hill, Hampstead Heath) - Note: we need marshals for this event, please email me if you're willing to volunteer.
  • Saturday 27th November 2021 - The Fraternity & Sorority Cup (Location: Trent Park, Cockfosters)
  • Saturday 11th December 2021 - Southern Cross Country Masters Championships (Location: Horspath, Oxford, OX4)
  • Saturday 29th January 2022 – Southern Counties Main Championships (Location: TBC)
  • Saturday 8th January 20222 - Middlesex County Championships (Location: Berkeley Fields, Greenford)
  • Saturday 26th February 2022 – English National Championships (Location: Parliament Hill, Hampstead Heath)
  • Weekend of 26th/27th March 2022 (date to be confirmed) - Middlesex and Hertfordshire Masters XC Champs (Location: Trent Park)

Please note that all championship races require advanced entry, also the club will pay for the entries, so please enter only if you’re sure you will be racing. To enter, please email Sophie Flanagan, who is our rep this season for all our championship entries.
