Chris Cameron-Doe

I have to bring you the very sad news that one of our former members, Chris Cameron-Doe, has passed away.

Those of you who have been members since the early 2000’s will, I’m sure, remember Chris and Julie Cameron-Doe.  They were very active Serpies between 2002 and 2009, when they emigrated to Australia with their young son, George.  They later moved to the USA.

I’ve received the very sad news that Chris passed away suddenly and unexpectedly last week at their home in Las Vegas.  I remember Chris well.  He was a keen all-round sportsman and a passionate rugby fan.  He particularly enjoyed the challenges of triathlons and half marathons.  Chris often competed in club organised competitions and was a regular at our Wednesday club runs - and in the pub afterwards!

Chris and Julie achieved a unique record when in February 2004, Chris won the Handicap, with Julie finishing second.  As far as I recall, there’s never been another family one, two Handicap finish.

I’m sure you’ll join me in sending condolences to Julie and George.

If you would like to virtually attend Chris’s Celebration of Life this Friday, February 26, it is at 12:00pm US Pacific time (which I think is 8.00pm UK time).

Below is the link to the Zoom Webinar that has been set up for the service. Please click this link on the day of the service to join the meeting.
