28th June-5th July - 2020 Virtual Grand Prix Club championship Race 1k

We hope you are all ready for the Grand Prix season which will kick off (virtually) this Sunday with the 1k race. Run and enter your time between 9am on the 28th June and 9pm on the 5th July to be in with a chance of getting a PB, a race award, or even one of our fantastic spot prizes which will be open to all who enter. Click above for more information.

How to submit a time for the 1k

  • On the ‘Self add result’ page scroll down the list of races and select "2020 Virtual Summer Grand Prix Club Championships - 1k" https://www.serpentine.org.uk/rdb/self/self_addresult.php. Enter your time after 9am on the 28th June and no later than 9pm on the 5th July
  • Take a photo or screenshot that shows your time and distance, this can be a screenshot of your Strava/Garmin result page, or a picture of your watch. As long as the distance is a minimum of that specified for the race in question.
  • Upload the image to the club’s drobox account via this link: https://www.dropbox.com/request/ZhNL18HB4NxS5D88Sf7c (the link can also be found in the same page as the “self-add result” page). Click “Choose Files” or “Choose from Computer”. You do not need a Dropbox account. This will just ask for your name (so we can correlate your performance with the time submitted) and email address (so you’ll get a confirmation of upload).

Awards and spot prizes

Award plaques will be given to:

  • The fastest Male, Female and Age-Graded for each race.
  • The overall Male, Female and Age-Graded Summer Grand Prix Club Champions (see below for details of the points system).

Spot prizes:

After each race all participants who submit a time will be entered into a random draw to win a £20 sport’s voucher. Names will be drawn from a hat after the relevant race week at the Serpiesphere cafe. Those that complete all 5 races will have the additional chance to win a £20 voucher from a further draw (that's 6 x spot prizes up for grabs!).

Rules

All runners must adhere to the government’s social distancing guidelines. In the interests of fairness, and to ensure social distancing measures are adhered to, we ask that you treat this as an individual race and do not meet up with others to compete.

We ask that for each race you aim for a net downhill of no more than 1% of the total race distance. For the 1k race that's 10m. We will not be verifying this but will rely on an honesty system.

All times and evidence must be submitted within the specified timeframes.

Points system to determine overall champions

Runners must submit times for ALL FIVE races if they are competing for the overall male, female and age-graded summer grand prix club championship. 1st Place receives 1 point, 2nd Place -2 points, 3rd Place - 3points and so on. The runner with the least number of points will win. Male and female runners will be ranked separately.
