Call out for volunteers - North London XC champs, Sat 2nd Nov

This year Serpentine are hosting the North London cross country championships at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday 2nd November, and Malcolm French and I need some help!

If you've raced at the Handicap that morning, have another target race coming up, or you just want to see what cross country is all about, this is a great short event to get involved with. We are looking for the following:

  • Marshalls - you'll be directing runners around the course. Men and women are running together over the 5 mile distance, so you'll get a great view of the race and can cheer on all the Serpies running (and other teams, of course!)
  • Catering - Thames Valley Harriers are allowing us to use their clubhouse at the Linford Christie Stadium to serve teas, coffees and snacks to runners before and after the race. We'll need people to set up and clear up, to serve hungry runners and manage the float.
  • Results - as results are manually calculated, we need a couple of people to help input names and positions to work out which team will walk away with the trophy. We'll provide the laptop, but if you can use Excel or are a quick typer that would be a bonus!

The race starts at 1.30pm, so depending on role we will need volunteers to arrive between midday and 1pm. The whole event should be finished between 3-3.30pm.

It's rare for Serpentine to host a cross country, so this is an opportunity to give back to the XC community and clubs who host all the other races we take part in. If you can spare some time please email Daisy Gladstone and let me know which role you would prefer.

Thank you,

Daisy
