2018 Club Championship Results

Many congratulations to Tony Payne and Marta Bagnati for winning our 2018 marathon club championship, and to Andrew Reeves for winning the overall age-graded championship.

Unlike for other distances, the marathon club championships are decided over any recognised marathon through the calendar year rather than a particular race, although Tony and Marta both got their winning times at the Frankfurt Marathon on 28th October.

Tony won both the men’s championship and the age-graded championship with his time of 2:16:56, giving him an age-graded score of 89.8% and taking him to second place on the all-time Serpentine male marathon rankings, whilst Marta won the women’s championship with a time of 2:44:11 which took her to third on the all-time Serpentine female marathon rankings.

Meanwhile Andrew proved his versatility and consistency by yet again winning the age-graded championship (as he did in 2017, 2016, 2015, 2012 & 2011!), awarded to the member with the highest average score over five events in the club championship series, with his average of 86.7% taking him narrowly ahead of Avril Riddell and with Helen Gray in third place.

The 2019 club championship series commences on Sunday 20 January with the 10 mile club championship race at the St Albans Fred Hughes 10 and places are still available at: https://www.activetrainingworld.co.uk/events/2019/01/20/Fred_Hughes_10

Congratulations once again to Tony, Marta and Andrew, and good luck to everyone training, racing, coaching and supporting in 2019!
