2017 Marathon Club Championship Results

Many congratulations to Nick Torry and Mariah McConnaughey, who are our 2017 marathon club champions.  Unlike for other distances, the marathon club championships are decided over any recognised marathon through the calendar year rather than a particular race, which made for several interesting twists and turns as the year unfolded.

Nick won both the men’s and the age-graded championship with his time of 2:17:37 (which equated to an age-graded score of 91.9%) at Frankfurt on 29th October, with Mariah winning the women’s championship with her 2:51:07 at Berlin on 24th September.

Special mention must also be made to:

  • Jonathan Poole, whose 2:21:31 at London this April led to an England vest in October;
  • Tony Payne, whose 2:27:35 in London and then 2:19:39 in Berlin gave him both second and fifth place in the men’s competition; and
  • Marta Bagnati whose 2:53:25 in Manchester on 2nd April and 2:58:24 in Berlin similarly gave her both second and fourth place in the women’s competition.

Full results can be found here.

I would like to thank everyone who ran, coached and supported, and to wish everyone best of luck for their 2018 marathons.
