Report
Race report kindly provided by Jerry Worthing -
After cancellations during the pandemic and only 200 runners 2021 on a shortened circuit, the well organised Salzburg Marathon has staged a major comeback event, this year with 4500 runners, sunny 21°C and the AMAZING 21.1km circuit beginning in the city centre Griessgasse and heading south in pleasant shade along the tree lined boulevard leading to Hellbrunn Castle, through it's surrounding parks before returning back past Leopoldskron Castle and Mirabell Palace to cross the Salzach River towards the grand Festival Hall underneath the towering Mönchsberg cliff.
At an average pace of 4'48s per km I reached the finishing line after 1h41'19s net ranked 2nd place of 32 in the M65 class.
