Report
After a few disruptive years, the Vienna City Marathon has returned to its usual springtime schedule, this year with 31000 runners gathering in mild 13⁰C weather near the imposing UN buildings for the impressive six lane mass surge over the Danube bridge. After running through the extensive Prater park, the course followed the famous tree lined Inner Ring boulevard filled with thousands of cheering spectators, on past the Opera, outwards to Schönbrunn Palace before returning to the historic museum district after 21.1km, which I completed at an average speed of 12.7 kmh in 6th place in the M65 class of 114 after 1h39'39 (Sub 1h40 = fastest time since 2004 :-))
