Isle of Man Marathon (15 Aug 2004)

Report: the Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon are held in the north east corner of the island starting and finishing in Ramsey. Although less hilly than the south it is by no means a flat course. The full marathon takes in 2 laps of an undulating course, with the worst hills in the first 5 miles. The half marathon sets off 30 minutes later using the same route as the marathon. The organisation was top notch with drinks stations serving ice cold water and sponges every 5km, friendly marshalls, showers, post race massage and a free buffet at the finish. An excellent way to see the isle of man without a motorbike!
