Serpies Group Lanza

Each year, Serpentine organises a trip to Club La Santa, Lanzarote, for 7 or 10 days of training, relaxation and fun. The trip is open to all sports enthusiasts of all levels. Whether you are a runner, cyclist, swimmer, a combination of any of these or just enjoy a multitude of sports, this camp does not disappoint. Many Serpies have enjoyed the trip and are returning each year. The week is packed with activities and bespoke sessions led by our own Serpies coaches. See the Activities page for an indication of what to expect if you go on the trip, the variety of training that takes place, the running and cycling routes available.  You will find additional information in the FAQ section but if you have any specific enquiries, please contact the organisers.

Sports and activities

CLS olympic pool Serpies cycling at la santa

The potential for running, cycling & swimming is limitless. The club has three 50m pools plus a closed lagoon for open-water swimming, kayaking, wind surfing and stand-up paddle boarding.  The 400m running track has recently been upgraded, there is also a fully equipped gym, tennis courts and badminton, squash and other internal courts. The Wellness Centre has jacuzzis, steam rooms, saunas etc. which can be booked on site for a small additional cost.

In addition to the bespoke Serpie training timetable (made available ahead of the trip to help you plan), Club La Santa offers a wide range of additional classes, such as pilates and yoga (including aerial yoga) which can be booked on site (although note some classes carry an extra charge), as well as other more ‘exotic’ classes such as fencing or TRX.

Accomodation

You will stay in a 1- or 2- bedrooms flats at Club La Santa. Those have been recently upgraded. They are basic but comfortable self-catering apartments, with towels and bed linen, kitchen utensils provided. More details about accommodation are found on the Club La Santa website. Their brochure is also full of information.

Physiotherapy and sports massage

The site has a Wellness Centre, which offer various treatments, massages and a spa. Those can be booked on site. Please note that many book up well in advance so it is advisable to book early in the week. A private doctor is also available on site should you fall ill however you will have to pay for their time as well as any medication/bandaging (even basic anti-inflammatories).

Eating & Shopping

Club La Santa has also 2 sports shops on site for any kit you may have forgotten, and a number of bars and restaurants. The Pool bar and El Lago restaurant tend to be the go-to restaurants for Serpies during the day. There are also good restaurants in La Santa village, some of them have become Serpies’ favourites over the years. The flats include kitchen for those who want to cook “at home”. We also tend to organise 1 or 2 dinners on site for all participants.

There is a supermarket on site (open daily 8am-8pm) which stocks a wide range of goods, including gluten, sugar and/or dairy free products and a fresh bakery. Prices can be close to that in London as this is the only supermarket on site.  There is another supermarket in nearby La Santa village (20-minute walk or short bike or cab ride).

Weather

The weather at that time of the year in Lanzarote is warm and sunny, with temperatures ranging between 15°C and 24°C during the day. Water temperatures average 18°C. However the climate is very changeable (Last year we had some serious cross winds with a bit of rain and thrown in for good measure) so be ready for all weathers.
