For each Winter League event you do, you earn points for your race position and your age-grading.
For most events, the points are allocated as follows
- Race points: females in time order (fastest first) – from 30 down to 1
- Race points: open category in time order – from 30 down to 1
- Age graded points: everyone in age-graded order – from 60 down to 1
Volunteers
If this week’s Winter League event is taking part in something specific (e.g. the club Handicap, or a park run takeover) and you cannot take part, you can earn points by volunteering instead. In this case, a coin-toss will determine your points. If it is Heads you will get maximum (30) race points as a volunteer. If it is Tails, you will come below the event finishers (but before the virtual participants).
Virtual Participants
If this week’s Winter League event is taking part in something specific and you can neither take part nor volunteer, you can earn points by covering the same distance separately (‘virtual’ participants). In this case, you will score below the real-life participants and the volunteers.
Handicaps
If this week’s Winter League event is a club handicap, then you will get points in order of (handicapped) finish time, not your net time. (Age grading points are earned in descending order of your absolute age-grading percentage, as usual). Scratch runners come below non-scratch runners. Virtual participants come below real-life participants and below volunteers.
