Winter Multisport League 2024/25
The Serpentine Winter League is back and starts from week commencing 2nd December. If you are new to this, it is basically a 13 week challenge with either a swim, cycle or run each week over the dark/cold winter months to keep us all motivated to train and be social. It is mainly virtual but there are a couple of London events as we are a London club but don’t worry if you can’t make it to the Handicap or Cross country for example then you will be treated as a scratch runner and will still earn those valuable points etc The Rules: 1. Times must be taken using your smart watch or equivalent in “race mode” for swimming and running (ie continuous time for all efforts). If you wish to use a treadmill to run indoors then this will also be permitted. For all bike efforts it is encouraged to cycle indoors on a turbo or static/gym bike (preference is for a Wattbike if one is available). Picture of the screen on a static bike with distance and time will count as evidence 2. Results must be submitted to triathlon@serpentine.org.uk by 9pm on Sunday on any given week 3. All competitors will get 5 points for completing any event. Additionally if you come in the top 30 for women’s or open category then you will get additional points, 30 points for first, 29 points for second… down to 1 point for 30th. If you choose to marshal at the Handicap, parkrun or XC race instead of run then you will also get 5 points. A coin will be flipped at the start of the event, heads and marshalls point scoring will start from 1st place and tails and point scoring will start at the bottom after all competitors 4. Swim, cycle, run, ski, snowboard or surf your way to 500km for the Serpie 500. Any unassisted mode will be accepted. 1 point will be awarded to every completed 100km for the Serpie 500 with a bonus of 5 points if you complete the full 500km. There is no limit to the points per 100km, if you wish to travel 1,000km, you will be awarded 10 points. A further 5 bonus points are up for grabs if you do one of your activities in Christmassy attire, photo evidence is required. Additional for this year if you do 23 hours of activity over the week, you will also be awarded 5 bonus points. If it isn’t on Strava it doesn’t count so ensure you log all hours/activities and post on Strava as proof 5. parkrun takeover – Must be in Serpie kit. Quickest runner + top 30 closest to their Blind 5km time will be awarded points. Guestimated times must be submitted before the parkrun officially starts to triathlon@serpentine.org.uk. If you want to record your run on Strava, you will need to prove you can’t see your watch screen. Preference is to tape over your watch screen or flip it over on your wrist. Blind 5km is a bit of fun so don’t even look to check your pacing etc 6. Points week. As it says on the tin, top 30 swim, cycle or run will get points. Top 30 total time will get points 7. Most of this series is virtual. If you can’t make it to a particular event for example the Handicap, XC or parkrun takeover then if you complete the correct distance you will be treated as a “scratch” runner in the rankings 8. This is just a bit of fun to keep us motivated in the off season. Any questions, please get in touch with Ham Huxham Now for the events: |
