Volunteers Needed for Summer League at Battersea Park (Sun 11th Aug)
Hello Serpies,
Please come and join us to stage the race!
After three fixtures of the Summer League hosted by our friends in other London clubs, and the upcoming Regent’s Park fixture this Sunday, we Serpies will host the final fixture of this season’s Summer League on Sunday 11th August in Battersea Park (10k). We are appealing for volunteers to help stage the event – please let us know using this form.
Volunteers Needed!
This year’s Summer League has been wonderful. We have had some great races so far and lots of Serpies enjoyed the Sunday morning races at Harrow, Perivale and Dulwich. We would obviously love you to come running for us in the remaining two fixtures, but even better if you could volunteer to make our fixture on 11th August a success as well!

Most of the roles required don’t require any qualifications. The roles include:
– Marshals
– Finish Funnel Stewards (guiding runners into the finish funnel and handing out finish position numbers to runners)-
– Water Station Volunteer
– Picnic Volunteers
– Bag Minder
– Serpie Team Manager
– Race Director – to make sure the race happens as planned, including the main 10k race, the tenderfoot races and the relays. It is suitable for someone who is familiar with the Summer League races. If you’re willing to take up that position please let us know.
Most of these roles will require you to be free during the race (apart from Serpie Team Manager who can combine with running), hence ideal for those taking a break from running whilst still wanting to experience the race atmosphere that morning. You’ll need to arrive at Battersea Park (about 200m west of the Bandstand) by about 09:15. With the 10k starting at 10:00am and with the tenderfoot race and relays afterwards, the event should conclude by about 12:30pm. It is likely that the Serpies (runners and volunteers) will gather in a nearby café/pub after the event.
If you are available to help on Sunday morning 11th August, please let us know using this form. We will be allocating roles as soon as we receive entries, so expect to hear from us soon after you sign up.
Picnic!
As usual in the Summer League, we as the host club will be providing a picnic for all participants. You can choose to bake, or bring fruits, snacks and drinks. If you would like to bring something to add to our spread, please indicate in the same form as well!
The great picnic provided by the Dulwich Park Runners a couple of weeks ago – let’s do an even better one!
Look forward to welcoming you to the Battersea Park fixture!
