Lanzarote Activities
Serpentine arranges a full list of our own activities, primarily catering towards running, swimming and biking. We also organise a wide-ranging social programme so that everyone feels included, even if they don’t know many others in the club, or are injured and can’t train. In addition Club La Santa offers a comprehensive range of sporting and non-sporting activities. You will be able to access the week’s organised events via their app on arrival.
The Lanzarote training timetable for 2024 is available for reference.
The program caters for all capabilities and is updated year after year to include new sessions. Serpies activities such as the Frank Horwill Mile, the Mini-Tri and the Quiz are very popular so we do our best to bring them back in our next trip.
You may need to sign up in advance to participate to some of our activities but for most you can just turn up. All Club La Santa activities need to be booked via their app. We advise you to download their app in advance. At arrival, you will be given a code and instructions on how to book classes and hire sporting equipment (tennis, squash or badminton racquets and courts, bikes, kayak, SUP, wind surf, etc.).
Most activities are free, except some off-site ones, such as scuba diving, golf, surfing etc.
Running
We organise training sessions at the track led by our coaches and on the local roads and trails over various distance, as well as running technique sessions and regular group recovery runs. Club La Santa also organises a 5k/10k road race and a half-marathon each week which anyone can sign up for.
Our sessions can be tailored and run routes lengthened/shortened to suit individuals and what they are training for. There are a number of different run routes that are used throughout the week, on a variety of terrain and undulation. Click on the links below to download a map of each of these routes:

Swimming
Our swimming sessions cover both fitness and technique. We have a number of dedicated lanes reserved in the Olympic swimming pool every morning and in the evening. There are opportunities to swim in the Lagoon (with wetsuits) most mornings and evenings and we hope to arrange an open water ‘handicap’ swim race.
We have swimming coaching available everyday from beginners to advanced. Note that you do need to be able to swim at least 2 lengths of the 50m pool in some fashion in order to join the group sessions. Complete beginners can book swimming lessons with the Club La Santa Green Team.
Usually you can use any of the three the Olympic pools at any times during the day (bookable through the app) except when all lanes are reserved for other parties.
Cycling
The bike coaching will offer technique sessions for all levels as well as short and long bike rides. Each day there will be range of group rides of varying lengths. These are not coached rides but are led by volunteers instead. If you are interested in volunteering to lead a ride please contact the organisers.
Triathlon
In addition to the individual disciplines, we usually organise our own “mini-tri” at the end of the week. It is the opportunity for less experienced triathlete to get a taste of a triathlon race in a safe environment and for the more advanced athletes to test their level of fitness. It is a lot of fun and tends to be over-subscribed. Each week Club La Santa also organises a mini-triathlon, an aquathlon and a duathlon. These are great events to take part in or support.
Other/Offsite Activities
Club La Santa has also a whole range of other activities taking place throughout the week, such as windsurfing, tennis, volleyball, aerobics etc. It is possible to hire the equipment required for any activity from Sports Booking and, for most sports, this is free of charge. The weekly program of events taking place at Club La Santa can be found on the La Santa website.
There is also a wellness centre that has saunas, a jacuzzi, an icy pool and a steam room.
In the past, groups have gone on day trips elsewhere on the island (at an additional cost). One popular activity is to go mountain biking on Graciosa Island to the north of Lanzarote. This can be organised by individuals either prior to arriving in Lanzarote or with Sports Booking once you are there.
