Serpie Talks – ‘Run a Marathon like an Olympian’ with Roman Fosti – Fri 25th Apr 2025

Serpie Talk 13 Feb 25 with Jim AB

After a brilliant first episode of ‘Serpie Talks’ back in February, we are delighted to announce the next speaker – Roman Fosti, a Serpentine member who represented Estonia in the international stage for almost 20 years.

Roman is one of the best runners Estonia has ever produced. Starting his career in the early 2000s in middle distance track races, he was the Estonian champion over several distances including 800m, 1500m and 5000m. He went on to represent Estonia in several world and European championships in the marathon and half marathon distances. He took part in two Olympic marathons – Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020 (above: Roman in Olympic action in Sapporo in 2021). In the qualifying race for Tokyo he clocked his personal best time of 2:10:46.

In late April 2025, he will line up in Greenwich for this year’s London Marathon.  We are honoured to have him joining Serpentine and coming over from Tallinn not only to run in the race, but also to speak to us two days before race day!

In ‘Run a Marathon like an Olympian’, he will tell us about his upbringing, his experience in world class races, what he is doing with the running community in Tallinn and what running means to him. Those of us who will run the London Marathon this year can also get some tips from him about how to run the race!
