Welcome to another weekend round-up! November is when the cross country season is in full swing and this weekend saw the Mighty Serpie team out in Horsenden Hill near Perivale for the second @metleague fixture of the 2024-25 season. Altogether 30 Serpies completed the 8k course. In the senior women’s race, @kcasterton was our leading female runner as she came 5th in the race in a time of just under half an hour. Jonathan Poole led our 20-strong Serpie men, coming home after 25:50. Earlier in the day, we had the Jones brothers in the Junior men’s race with Sam just slightly ahead of Pip.

Back on the road, the Serpies were out in two events in and around London. Over in East London, Frank Womelsdorf continued his superb comeback from injury with a brisk 1:36 in the Victoria Park Half Marathon. Lizzie Wilkinson also competed over the six laps and finished in 1:47, whilst his husband Kevan did the 10k in 52 mins. In the 5k, Molly Hemmings came in just under 20 mins, ahead of father and son pair Abhi and Akash Jain who crossed the line together after 24:36.

The family or couple theme continued on the other side of town, where husband and wife Hans Ho and Sophie Taylor both ran the Dorney Lake Half Marathon along the London 2012 Olympic rowing venue. Hans did the second best ever half marathon time in 1:40:31, and Sophie ran a quick 1:46:25.
