Serpentine #2 in the London Senior League

Drumrolls !! The Serpies finished 2nd of the London Senior League 2024, 5 small points after the Ful-on Tri club and well ahead of the Crystal Palace Triathletes, Willesden TC and Clapham Chasers thanks to a fantastic participation and the enthusiasm of our members. An even more impressive result was the one from our women triathletes who finished first of the female team category. All results are here.
The London Senior League is a series of events for the London based triathlon clubs, organised with Triathlon England. It consists in 6 multisports events held during the summer, with this year 4 triathlons and 2 aquathlons. Points are won for each participating member and each podium. This year the Serpies took over the Crystal Palace triathlon and the London Fields aquathlon.
Awards were given on Saturday 12 October at the AGM of the Triathlon England London Region Committee at the Doggett pub, 1 Blackfriars Bridge.
Speakers were Hilary Briggs, AG champion and TEDx speaker and Debbie Clarke, chair of Triathlon England, pictured below. Both gave inspiring talks, Hilary about her journey to the podium and beyond, and Debbie about the hard work being done at the grass roots and committee level in British Triathlon to continue with the encouragement and development of so many of our talented youngsters.
The three events targeted by Serpentine this year were Crystal Palace and Eton Dorney sprint triathlons and the London Fields Aquathlon. Pictures from the awards and these events are in the gallery below.
Please do take part next year – there is nothing quite so much fun as doing some of these great, well-organised races and being cheered on all the while by friends from the club, and they are in particular great entry-level events for people maybe starting out or returning to their swim-bike-run journey.
