At Serpentine we offer a wide variety of sessions suitable for runners of all levels from beginners to elite, at various locations throughout London. There is something on almost every day of the week and, unless otherwise stated, members are free to go to as many or as few as they choose, as and when is convenient. For complete beginners we recommend our beginners’ course.
What we offer
Club runs
Our regular social club runs operate on Wednesday evenings (recommended session for trying out the club), Saturday morning social runs, Saturday morning Long run (Central London) and Sunday mornings (Richmond Park). They are training sessions, not races, and are suitable for adult runners of all abilities. Participants choose their distance and pace group, and run together in a social and friendly environment, usually followed by an (optional) visit to a local pub or cafe.
Track training
Runners of all levels can improve their speed by attending one of our organised track sessions. We have two main sessions targeted at runners of different levels using Paddington track at Maida Vale – on both Monday and Tuesday. They are a great way to prepare for specific events and motivate yourself by pushing hard alongside others.
Hill and coached sessions
Hill training isn’t just for those intent on hill racing – it makes you stronger and faster on the flat too. Strengthen your legs and lungs by joining in our tough but sociable coached hill sessions at Greenwich Park (Saturday, sign-up required) and Primrose Hill (Thursday), or the informal uncoached sessions on Hampstead Heath.

Beginners & Improver runners
Our club is beginner friendly – beginner runners are welcome to join our club runs and we will make sure you have someone to run with! Also we have two run courses – one for beginners aiming to do a 5k, another one for improver runners aiming to do a 10k.
Trail runs
Our frequent group trail runs, usually operating on weekend days, are a great way to explore some of the beautiful, off-road trails in and around London. Set and organised by one of our team of experienced trail run leaders, routes and distances vary to ensure that there is always something new to discover.
