Report

The event takes place on the Ayot Greenway, at the bottom of Ayot St. Peter Road, Hertfordshire, AL6 9AD. The course is entirely off road and has no road crossings. The route is a straight 4.5 mile out and back (2.25miles in each direction) to be completed exactly 14 times to complete a full 100km (exact distance is just under 63 miles to ensure the distance is covered).

Organised by Centurion Running for those looking to get a Spartathlon qualifying time (sub 10:30 100km - though getting qualified doesn't mean you have to enter(!)) with no entry fee, no medical and no aid provided just water and official timings with a couple of hardy marshals to look after bags.

The Ayot Greenway is a disused railway line, it is therefore predominantly flat however each out and back has approximately 150ft of gain for a total climb of 2100 feet. It's downhill on the way out and uphill on the way back. The course is on trail and is very solid and dry underfoot. Weather was around zero degrees though a little sunny for a period in the afternoon.
