The 1st 3 races are for members of the Track & Field Tour & are held at the Vila Real de San Antonio/Monte Gordo sports complex which was used by Team GB as a holding camp for the Berlin World Champs & the Barcelona European Champs. It will also be the holding camp for the British Olympic Team for 2012.

The X Milhas do Guadiana is a well established local race which has about 600 competitors. The route crosses the Guadiana bridge between Vila Real & Ayamonte in Spain, & alternates its direction each year. This year the race started in Portugal. Slight changes to the course means that the race is no longer the 10 miles the race title suggest but is 17.3k.

The weather in the Algarve during early November is warm & ideal for running, however this year before the 5k a torrential rain shower meant the course resembled a more traditional cross country course.
