Report

This was the inaugural Full Boar middle distance tri, although they have run shorter events before (it was also my debut over the distance). The race was generally well-organised and I understand it was good value compared to other races at the distance. The signing and marshalling was very clear and there were well-stocked feed stations on the bike and the run.

The weather was cool, cloudy and breezy at the start but got warmer and sunnier later on. Still a bit windy but not too bad, and a far cry from the heavy rain and strong winds the forecast had predicted.

The swim is two laps round a lake - fairly cold and murky water but the route was clearly marked. The bike was 4 laps round an undulating course on generally good and not too busy roads. The run was two laps of an out and back course that was also undulating. The run was meant to be a full half-marathon but was cut back to 18km because of a clash of events at the venue.
