Report
The setting for this event, in the Pyrénées Winter Sports resort of Capcir, is but one part of a complete triathlon weekend including iron kids, super sprint, sprint, standard, half iron man and iron man. The swim for the Matemale sprint takes a 750m triangular course in the lake followed by the bike section of one 20k loop around the lake and includes a 210m climb. The run is a 5k out and back dash across the dam. The whole area is stunningly beautiful - honestly as close to paradise as I can imagine. The weekend is well worth a detour for serpies who are fed up with monotonous loops and rip-off prices found in many events in the UK - the sprint costs €20 including a wheel cover give-away. Would-be iron men here will need strong legs - the bike section features over 5,000m of climbing!
