Report

Congratulations to the Serpies who competed at the 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater on Saturday. On the day the weather was spectacular, the organisation impeccable and the 3,500 volunteers amazing. Following the recent hurricane the swim was switched to an inland bay with a time trial type start. This was followed by an ultra fast flat bike ride and finished off with a hot run which was flat apart from the Clearwater bridge which seemed to grow in height on each of the 4 times we crossed it. The only downside of the event was an unacceptable level of drafting on the bike (though naturally not by any Serpies). Martin Muldoon was first home with a time of 4.12 and a bike split of 2.07 followed by Tobias Read in 4.20 and Rory Maquire in 4.29. Whilst rain and wind punished London on the Sunday the intrepid trio for their art lay on the beach for 8hrs under a 80
degrees baking sun for a well deserved rest.
