Race conditions
No rain on the day, but course seriously flooded in advance!
Report
50 mile race along the Thames Path from Reading to Shepperton. Due to recent flooding, large parts of the path were actually impassable, and hence detours (sometimes lengthening / sometimes shortening) were necessary in several places. It is highly unlikely that any two runners actually did the same course. Several long sections of wading through icy cold water, at times up to and above the waist. In "normal" conditions, this would be a good "entry level" ultra event (it is flat and the navigation should be simple), but rather tough on the day.
