A flat and reasonably fast course, although fast times were not assisted on the day by 23 degrees centigrade and a cloudless sky. A small field of 1,100 runners meant it felt a bit low key (and lonely) at times, but the run through the Old Town (including some 1.5km on cobbles) and round the main square at the 36km mark provided some inspiration with the tourist spectators offering (bemused) encouragement over the tops of their beer glasses as they watched from the pavement caf
