Serpentine Last Friday of the Month 5k
In the late 1980s a 5km handicap race was first organised in Hyde Park by the London Road Runners Club and, following the demise of that club, the event was revived as a straight race by the Serpentine Running Club on the last Friday of the last three months of 1992. After a short gap, the race became firmly established in April 1993. In April 2001 the series celebrated its 100th race. January 2018 saw a further milestone, the 300th race in the series. Runner's World magazine sponsored the event from July 2000 to June 2004, then it was sponsored by Etonic/InSport from then until June 2006. From February 2009 to February 2017 the race was sponsored by Brooks, and to March 2018 by Harbour Club.
The Serpentine Last Friday of the Month 5k is open to everyone. It is run on the last Friday of each month (see our race planner for dates).
As well as individual races, we maintain an annual league and since 2004 there has been an annual trophy: the winner is the runner with the best six age-graded performances over the year.
You can find out more about the Last Friday of the Month 5k,
including a map of where to meet and a map of the course, in the Racing section.
