Pre Cross-Country Season parkrun
Interested in running cross-country for the first time? Want to remind yourself of what it’s like to run on muddy, uneven ground? Fancy doing a serpie social parkrun? Come and join us at the Wormwood Scrubs parkrun on 21st Sept.
Wormwood Scrubs is used for cross-country races as well as parkrun. The parkrun is entirely off-road, using a similar route to the cross-country races, but at 5km is shorter than the typical cross-country race (often 8km). At this time of the year there is no need for special shoes, although trail shoes are ideal for the parkrun in September (In wet, muddy conditions cross-country spikes are often used).
After the parkrun we’ll go for a coffee, where we can answer any questions. Unable to join us this time, look at the website or come along to the Wednesday night social on 25th September where Nic Browne and others will be available to answer cross-country questions.
If you’ve never come across them, parkrun organise are free 5km time trials, with a broad range of participants. You need to obtain a barcode and bring this along to get an official time.
