London International Cross Country Event – Sat 20th Jan 2024 – Marshals needed

Runner in Hyde Park

How often do you get to be up close and personal in an international running event? If you want to watch a high quality event and be inspired by elite level runners, whilst doing something useful, please come and help marshal the London International Cross Country Race, on Saturday 20th January 2024 at Parliament Hill, Hampstead Heath.

The competition is on a spectator-friendly 2km circuit close to the track.  The races cover all the usual age groups.  The elite races will include the UK trial for the British World XC Champs team, the Home Nations International, an inter-area competition and the BUCS trial for the World Universities XC Champs.

The races will start at 10.45am (briefing approx 10.00am) and final competitors expected to finish around 3.30pm. All races will take place in a much smaller area than usual – the furthest marshalling point will only be a few minutes’ walk from the start/finish.

We require 20 marshals. As it’s a cold time of the year, the organisers are looking to split the marshals into shifts of 2:30 hours each (potentially 10.00am to 12.30pm and 12.00pm to 3 30pm). If you can help, please contact Malcolm French (malcolmfrench1962@yahoo.com), who has kindly accepted to be the Chief Marshal for the race.

Any questions about this race please contact Sophie (sophieserpiexc@gmail.com).
