The evening itself…

We are delighted to have invited at least two past chairpersons of Serpentine Running Club Bernie Tuck and Ros Young, and a few founding members of the club, to join us for the evening. We can’t wait to hear from them about what this club was like back in the day – don’t miss this memorable occasion!

We suggest a ‘Smart Casual’ dress code – we usually see each other in sweaty running gear, so let’s leave that at home for this evening and get our party clothes out! Of course that doesn’t have to be black-tie or a suit, but perhaps jeans/trousers and a nice shirt, or a summer dress.

There will be a free welcome drink for everyone on arrival. A buffet dinner will be served at some point of the evening.

Covid measures – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

As you may be aware, Covid cases have been on the rise again recently and we probably all know a few people who have caught Covid in the past weeks.  With that in mind we are putting in place some measures to minimise Covid risk in our party – just so that everyone can enjoy the occasion.

1. Please do not attend the party if you have symptoms of Covid. Please note that symptoms of Covid could be similar to cold or flu. For more information regarding Covid symptoms please follow this link on the NHS website.

2. Although not mandatory, participants are encouraged to take a lateral flow test within 24 hours of attending the party, particularly if coming into close contact with a known Covid-positive case.  Please do not attend the party if you test positive for Covid, regardless of whether you have symptoms.

3. If you have bought a ticket but need to withdraw from attending the party due to testing positive for Covid, having Covid symptoms, or being a close contact of confirmed Covid case, please contact Monica, our Social Secretary.

Fancy a race before the party?? How about two?

We will kick off the day of the party (Saturday 16^th July) with a 1k club championship race in Hyde Park Rotten Row at 09:00. We hope you will join us to run or volunteer – come to the Rotten Row by about 08:30. Please follow this link for more details. After the race, we will head to the Serpentine Lido Café (NOT the Serpentine Bar & Kitchen where we normally go on Saturday mornings) for a Serpentine birthday cake. We would love to see as many of you as possible there. If you can’t make it to the party in the evening, this is a good way to still be part of the anniversary celebrations.

In the afternoon, the next match of the Southern Athletics League (SAL) will be at Lee Valley (postcode: N9 0AR). We welcome competitors, volunteers and officials – please get in touch with Nic Barberis if you can help or take part. You’d be pleased to know that Edmonton Green (the nearest Overground station) or Ponders End (Greater Anglia railway) is less than half an hour on the train away from Liverpool Street.
