Serpies do Mont Ventoux

On Saturday 13 Serpies set off to conquer the Giant of Provence Mont Ventoux not just once but 3 times. A challenge dreamed up in 2007, there are approx. 11000 official graduates of the Cingles du Mont Ventoux club http://www.clubcinglesventoux.org/en/ . This is a ride of approx 140km and 4400m of climbing. 9 of the group completed the challenge and 4 did 2 climbs. Our hosts for the trip were Craig, Vicky and Andy from Veloventoux http://www.veloventoux.com/ with Andy and Craig also leading many of the rides and providing a support vehicle for the Cingles day. I think everyone who came on the trip agrees it was a fantastic long weekend with us also cycling (and some running) on the other days. We were lucky with the weather dry, sunny and warm on all 4 days we were there (the previous weekend it had rained and been -1 on the top of Ventoux). We also sampled the local Cote Du Rhone wines produced in the region. I’m pretty sure there’ll be another trip in 2018.
