Open water swimming coaching spring / summer 2015

Runner in Hyde Park

I am pleased to announce we will be providing 3 specific coached open water swim sessions this spring / summer. The sessions take place from 8.30am to 10.00am on Saturday’s 23rd May, 13th June and 11th July at Shepperton Lake in Surrey.

The lake is a short drive from junction 1 Sunbury on the M3 or junction 2 M3 / junction 12 M25 Chertsey or is a brisk 15 minute walk from Shepperton train station which is easily accessible from London Waterloo. The address is Ferry Lane, Shepperton, Middlesex TW17 9LH.

Below is a link to the website of Shepperton Open Water Swim where we swim.

At each session there will be a number of British Triathlon qualified open water swim coaches and we will be able to split you up into smaller manageable groups.

The sessions are open to swimmers of all abilities and we aim to cover the following open water swimming skills over the 3 weeks:

  • Putting on your wetsuit
  • Flushing your wetsuit
  • Getting comfortable in the water
  • Understanding how straight you swim
  • Sighting
  • Rounding a turn buoy
  • Drafting

Each session will cover slightly different topics and will build on the last one although we will review the previous session if necessary. Cost for each sessions is £6 which includes the £1 Entry Central fee. You will also need to pay to use Shepperton Lake on the day which costs £5. You can only currently sign up to the first session. Once the first session is done I will send another email you you will be able to sign up to the next one. The link to sign up is below.
