Help needed at 3 races – Thursday 26, Friday 27 & Saturday 28 June

Runner in Hyde Park

It’s always good to involve some of the club’s newer members in helping out and it doesn’t matter if you haven’t done this sort of thing before. You should also get to see some great racing.

Assembly League – Thursday 26 June

Thursday’s Assembly League race will be run over a 5k course in Battersea Park. The races usually attract about 150-200 runners of all standards. We need to find course marshals, number recorders for the finish and finish stewards.

Helpers will need to arrive by 7.10pm and meet Malcolm French, the Race Director, beside the Bandstand in Battersea Park. The race begins at 7.30pm. Please contact MalcolmFrench1962@yahoo.com if you can help.

Last Friday of the Month 5k – Friday 27 June

We need to find helpers for the next Serpentine Last Friday 5k. Help is needed with course marshalling and in the finish area. If you’d like to help, please email MalcolmFrench1962@yahoo.com.

The race starts at 12.30pm and marshals will be needed from 12.15pm. There’s a time limit of 35 minutes for the race, so you should all be away just after 1.00pm. If you need to leave promptly, Malcolm will make sure that he stations you in the early part of the course.

The meeting point is the Boat House beside the Serpentine, near Hyde Park Corner. If you can stay after the race, we’ll head to the Serpentine Kitchen for refreshments.

Club championship 1k – Saturday 28 June

The second of the club’s summer Grand Prix races is the infamous downhill club championship 1k. The race will begin at 9am on Saturday 28 June in Hyde Park. We need to find a few more people to be timekeepers and number recorders at the finish plus a few course marshals. Helpers will need to arrive at the Lido cafe by 8.45am. Please email Stephanie Vaatz if you can come along to help.

If you can stay after the race, we’ll head to the Lido cafe for refreshments and to present the trophies to the winning runners.
