Find out about how your club runs

Meet the committee
Next Wednesday, many of the current committee members will be in the club room at the Seymour Centre after the club runs. This will be a chance for members to meet the current committee; find out what they, and other significant contributors, do to make the club operate; plus find out how to get involved. We’ll be there from around 8pm – 9pm, and hope that lots of you will drop in for an informal chat.
What is the committee?
Our club’s committee is made up of 14 volunteer members, all of whom are elected at the club’s Annual General Meeting. This year’s AGM will be held on Wednesday 20 August (save the date!) and nominations for the committee will need to be submitted by Wednesday 6 August.
The committee is made up of three officers:
- Chairman
- Secretary
- Treasurer.
and 11 ordinary committee members whose roles are:
- Coaching & Training (Running / Athletics)
- Coaching & Training (Triathlon)
- Competition & Team Events
- Race Organisation & Promotion
- Junior Section Coordinator
- Club Kit
- Club Runs and Mentoring
- Accommodation / Strategic Partnerships
- Social
- Communications
- Fundraising / Sponsorship
Select from the drop down menu on the right of this webpage to learn more about the different roles on the Committee and who is currently volunteering in that role.
Joining the committee
Any first claim club member of at least one year’s standing may be nominated for any of these 14 positions, whether a current committee member is nominated again or not. However, a few members of the current committee have already decided that they won’t be standing for re-election and next week’s ‘Meet the committee‘ would be an ideal chance to find out more about what these roles entail. These roles are:
- Chairman
- Coaching & Training (Running / Athletics)
- Junior Section Coordinator
- Club Kit
- Accommodation / Strategic Partnerships
- Fundraising / Sponsorship
If you can’t come along on 18 June but are interested in any of the committee roles and would like to know more, please contact any of the current committee members.
Other ways to help with the running of the club
Serving on the committee is not the only way to get involved in the running of our club. Given the size of the club and range of activities provided, committee members work with many additional volunteers in sub-roles to organise, co-ordinate and provide these different activities for members. If you would like to talk to us about helping out in any way, please do come along next Wednesday.
We look forward to seeing lots of you next week
