Assembly League race – Beckenham: Thursday 5 June

The third race in the 2014 series will see us return to Beckenham on Thursday 5 June, starting at 7.30pm. I’ll be there to hand out the Serpentine numbers.
The Race HQ will be Beckenham Cricket and Tennis Club, Foxgrove Road, Beckenham, South London, BR3 5AS. Race distance, 3 miles.
The course is mainly around suburban streets. There is a hill near the start and another one leading to the finish. The rest of the course is flat. Please note that the course will NOT be marshalled and there will be NO first aid presence: you run at your own risk.
The clubhouse has good facilities. There is a bar where food can be purchased after the race.
Travel: the Race HQ is no more than 10 minutes walk from Beckenham Junction station. There is a frequent service from Victoria. Journey time about 20 minutes. Trains also run from London Bridge to New Beckenham and Beckenham Junction with journey time of c.40 minutes. Please check http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ for options.
The Assembly League is an inter-club series of 6 races. The race is open to all Serpies. All entries are taken on the day. The races usually attract about 150-200 runners of all standards. There is no entry fee. The club pays this as one of your membership benefits.
If possible, please run in a Serpie top.

A date for your diary – Serpentine’s home Assembly League race will be in Battersea Park on Thursday, 26 June. I’ll need some help with race organisation, about which I’ll write separately.
