Olympic Triathlon Champions Crowned

Runner in Hyde Park

A total of 53 Serpies (a record turnout for any club triathlon championship I believe) raced the ITU London Olympic Distance Triathlon in Hyde Park yesterday. First woman home in club kit and this years champion was Ellie Murphy in 2.27.27. Andy Greenleaf, starting from the offical Serpie wave, led from start to finish, not only winning the club championshp race, but also recording the fastest time of the whole day with 1.52.14.

On a warm day there was considerable vocal Serpie support around the whole course. For many Serpies in the triathlon squads this was their first Olympic distance race. Also of note Margaret Sill and Eddie Brocklesby were the fastest in their respective age groups (in fact Eddie was the fastest woman or man in that age group). There were also a number of Serpie racing the sprint distance event on the same day.

A full set of Serpie results from the Olympic race is here.
