Sunday League cross country – final race Sunday 16 February, Watford

The Venue
Race HQ is West Herts Sports Club, 8 Park Avenue, Watford, WD18 7HP – just round the corner and across the road from the top of the Cassiobury Park.
The Race
Start: 10:30am, Cassiobury Park
All entries are taken on the day. Please run in your club top. The start will be near the Chachacha Cafe and the finish near to the top of the park.
The course is 6.1 miles and is as run in previous years (for the Sunday League regulars!) It goes out into the woods for two laps, then back to the top of the park. If runners aim to jog the last section (in reverse) as a warm up, they’ll be aware of the final run in as the finish is not in the same place as the start.
It will be muddy. Trail shoes and studs should be enough. Those wishing to wear spikes should be aware that there are bridge crossings on hard paths to be made, both out and back. Also, as it is the last race of the season, there will be two finish funnels: one for women and one for men, to help in sorting out results quickly after the race.
There should be a shelter erected near the finish as a baggage area. Please note that this will be unsupervised.
Changing, Showers etc.
The organisers have asked that no muddy footwear or clothing is brought into the hall. There will be access to some showers but probably not enough for everyone!
Hot drinks will be available for purchase straight after the run. The bar will open at 12 o’clock. Hot food is available in the members’ bar.
Travel & Parking
There is limited onsite parking. There is, however, ample on-street parking near the park, access from Hempstead Road. The park is ideally placed for travel on the Metropolitan Line, with Watford Junction 3/4 of a mile away.
After the Race
Presentations will be made in the hall as soon as the team have crunched and computed the numbers.
