Sunday League cross country, 24 November, help needed & race details

Runner in Hyde Park

Helpers needed

We need 3 people to help with marking the course. Course markers will be needed at Grovelands Park at approx 8:15am but will be finished well before the start of the race, so, if you are thinking about racing, could you arrive earlier and also help with course marking?

From around 10:00am we also need 8 course marshals and 2 finish area marshals plus 1 timekeeper. The last runners should finish by 11:45am. If you can help, please email Malcolm French

The venue

Grovelands Park, Broad Walk, Southgate, London N21 3DA. See map

Please also see the Parkrun website for location information.

The race

Start: 10:30am

All entries are taken on the day. Please run in your club top. The start and finish will be close to the lake. The winding, 3-lap course of c.8000m is all on open grassland – It will take a spike.

After the race, we’ll need the Serpies who ran to collect up all the course signage, etc during their warmdown.

Changing and refreshments

There are no changing or showering facilities so please come ready to run. Toilets are available adjoining the lakeside cafe in the centre of the park, however bring your own loo paper as the Council never supply any! Kit can be left, unsupervised, close to the finish. The cafe will be open for refreshments after the race.

Transport and parking

Southgate (Piccadilly Line) is the closest tube station, about 10 minutes walk from Grovelands Park. Winchmore Hill (National Rail) is also within walking distance.

There is no car park in the park itself so parking is on the adjacent streets only. Please note that there are several entrances to the park, including those in The Bourne, Broad Walk, Church Hill, Park View and Queen Elizabeth’s Drive.
