New Year’s Day 10k – start 2014 off in Hyde Park

Runner in Hyde Park

The New Year’s Day 10k is a great way to start the New Year, for runners and helpers alike. Entries for the 2014 race are now open and if they sell out, which they usually do, there will be 900 runners lining up to race in Hyde Park at 11am on 1 January 2014.

The race is one of the big ways that Serpentine can put something back into the running community, so we don’t accept entries from club members, except under special circumstances and with prior permission from the race director.

In advance of race day, we’d like to find three Serpies who would like to take on the key roles of:

  • Supplier co-ordinator (both before and on race day)
  • Course marshall co-ordinator
  • Finish co-ordinator

If you would like to take on any of these roles, or would like more information before deciding, please email me

We also need about 100 volunteers on the day to make the race a success. We need people to help with:

  • course set up
  • race registration
  • the baggage tent
  • marshalling
  • the water station
  • the finish line

New Year may seem a long way away, but it’s amazing how quickly the rest of the year will go, so if you already know you can help, please sign up now. If you have a preference about what you would like to help with, you can include that when you sign up.

It’s a great way to start the new year off, with lots of your fellow Serpies.

Many thanks for your support
