Assembly League 5k, Battersea Park – Thursday, 4 July

Runner in Hyde Park

This Thursday, 4 July, it’s Serpentine’s turn to host a round in the Assembly League. The race will be in Battersea Park and we’ll be using the course that we used for the Serpentine 5k Championship.

The race starts at 7.15pm and the last runner should finish before 8.00pm. Marshals will be needed from 7.00pm.

The meeting point will be the Battersea Park Bandstand (not the Millennium Arena, this time), which is in the middle of the park.

I will need some help with organisation of the race. I am very conscious of the number of appeals for assistance that I’ve made recently and this time I need to find just 7 course marshals and two people to record the runners numbers at the finish. If you’d like to help with this, please can you email me on MalcolmFrench1962@yahoo.com

If you haven’t run in an Assembly League race before, you might like to know that this is an inter-club series of six races. The races are open to all Serpies. All entries are taken on the day. The races usually attract about 200 runners of all standards. It will be good to see a sizable Serpentine turnout.  The course is flat and fast. There is no entry fee as the club pays this as one of your membership benefits. However, on this occasion, if you want to make use of the changing rooms at Millennium Arena you will need to pay their usual charge of £2.70. If possible, please run in a Serpie top.

I hope some of you will be able to help as marshals or finish judges. I look forward to hearing from you – and thank you for your ongoing support for the club’s summer races.
