Summer Grand Prix

The summer grand prix comprises 1k and 5k road races plus 1 mile and 3000m track races, all held between late June and early July. All four races are organised by the club and are for Serpies only (with occasional guests). There’s always a great atmosphere as you get to race your training partners or cheer them on if you’re not running. The standard is very wide so don’t be put off if you think you’ll be too slow, and in the track races we seed everyone into groups of a similar standard. See last year’s results for info.
5 km road | Battersea Park – meet at track | Thu 20th June |
1 mile track | Paddington Track | Tue 25th June |
1 km road | Hyde Park – meet at Lido cafe | Sat 29th June |
3000m track | Paddington Track | Tue 9th July |
All the races are free to enter, and you should run in club colours so make sure you’ve got a club vest if you don’t have one (those who do not will be treated as guests and unable to win a trophy). Each race has trophies for the male, female and age-graded winners; and there are trophies for the overall series winners as well. (Hint: you need to do all four races to stand a chance of winning the series!)
We need help with marshaling, timekeeping and recording so if you’re not planning to race, please get in touch with Steph Vaatz and offer to help. You’ll get to see some good racing as well as gaining valuable volunteer points!
