Serpentine join the West London Athletics Network

The networks are groups of athletics / running clubs working strategically together along with other local key partners (local schools, Pro-Active London, Borough Councils etc) to develop the sport of athletics in that geographical area. London has a number of networks spread around and as a club with a base in central London but training venues in other areas we could have fitted geographically into several, but it was felt that West London would be the best fit, considering our central Westminster location. See more details of the clubs / partners involved, the overall aims of the networks in general and the WLAN specifically.
Being a part of this network is going to help considerably to drive the club forward in terms of:
- Coaching provision – recruitment, training and opportunities throughout the club, especially within the more specialised T&F disciplines such as throws / jumps / sprints
- Increased participation opportunities, particularly for youngsters to help foster that post-Olympics enthusiasm and to help build up our new junior section
- The recruitment and development of and support for the club’s hardworking band of volunteers and officials
- The sharing of best practice between clubs / network areas in topics ranging from volunteer recruitment through to governance or administration.
We look forward to working with our WLAN partners
