Start of 2013 Assembly and Summer Leagues

The Assembly League is a series of six races open to all members of the league clubs. Most of the clubs in the league are based in east and south-east London e.g. Victoria Park Harriers, Dulwich Runners and Beckenham RC, with Serpentine being the most westerly club. Races are held on the first Thursday of the month from April to September and generally start at 7.15pm. See the planner for details of the current year’s fixtures. Please wear your Serpie top when racing.
The Summer League is a friendly competition between London clubs over a series of five races of 10k or 5 miles. The races are free to enter – one of the many benefits of your Serpentine membership – just turn up and race in your club vest. A wide range of standards take part from the speedsters to those enjoying the parks of London a little more gently. The league results are based on scores which are weighted towards more points for older and younger runners so it’s a good family event. As well as the main race there’s also a ‘tenderfoot’ race of around 1.5k for children, runners returning from injury and runners who prefer to run a shorter distance. Then the races end with relays of around 300-400m which are fun and gain more points for clubs. More information about the league
